Positions Associate Professor/Professor (tenured) in Computer Science at University of Limassol

We are looking for candidates with excellent academic records in research and teaching to complement the research strengths of the faculty of the department of Information Technology at the School of Technology and Innovation, University of Limassol. At least one of the positions will be filled at the Associate or Full Professor rank.

Candidates for both will have demonstrated scientific expertise in any area within Computer Science. Candidates with expertise in applied, systems-oriented research and candidates with expertise in data science and Artificial Intelligence are strongly encouraged to apply.  We are primarily interested in candidates who can bring expertise and be able to teach topics like:

·      Software Engineering/Operating Systems

·      Internet Technologies

·      Cloud Computing

·      Digital Transformation

·      Data Mining and Machine Learning

·      Symbolic AI

·      Deep Learning

·      Reinforcement Learning

·      Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models

 

The successful candidates will be part of the Department of Information Technology, Schools of Technology and Innovation at the University of Limassol. The Department provides and values high-quality research and teaching.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to nurture the new generation of computer scientists and data experts through the new BSc degree in Computing and Business Technologies, as well as to cooperate with the rest of the department’s faculty towards producing high quality research output.

The successful candidate will complement the existing strengths in the department, will build an internationally visible group, will be an engaged teacher in the department’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, and will actively participate in developing a newly established department and University.

 

Applicants for senior positions must have a solid record of scholarly research publications in high-ranked international peer-reviewed journals as well as a strong ongoing research agenda.

 

Evidence of teaching excellence, and course and curriculum development is also required. Experience in academic leadership positions is an advantage

Requirements

·      A completed university education with a doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field.

·      Excellent scientific achievements.

·      Excellent didactic and pedagogical skills.

·      Management and leadership abilities.

·      Excellent command of English

We also value

·      International experience and integration in the international research community.

·      Experience with acquisition of research grants and/or industrial collaboration.

·      Experience with projects in the industry

We expect the successful candidate to transfer their residence to Cyprus.
