Working Hours: Up to 30 hours per week, fewer than 30 hours or zero hours, depending on operational needs
Rolling Recruitment Campaign
This is a rolling recruitment campaign.
Successful candidates will be placed on a reserve list according to:
- Their stated preferences
- The outcome of the interview
- The availability of suitable vacancies
Interviews will take place every few weeks. When a vacancy becomes available, priority may be given to candidates who were interviewed earlier.
Applicants must specify whether they prefer to work with:
- Key Stage 1
- Key Stage 2
Every effort will be made to accommodate the selected preference. However, successful candidates may be required to work across both Key Stages.
Salary
The salary depends on the type of contract, the number of working hours and the candidate’s qualifications.
- Level 1 Unqualified: Minimum €12.22 per hour, plus Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)
- Level 2 Qualified: Minimum €12.72 per hour, plus Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)
To be appointed at the qualified level, candidates must hold an STL qualification or an equivalent qualification.
Eligibility
This vacancy is open only to UK Family Members who hold a valid Status Stamp permitting employment.

Applications from individuals who have reached or passed the BFC/SBAA normal retirement age of 65 will not be accepted.
About the Role
The Learning Support Assistant will work under the direct instruction of teaching and senior staff to support pupils’ learning and help achieve the best possible educational outcomes.
The successful candidate will report to the:
- Headteacher
- Class Teacher
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Supporting Pupils
- Attend to pupils’ personal needs.
- Implement personal programmes relating to pupils’ social, health, physical, first-aid and welfare needs.
- Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
- Establish positive relationships with pupils.
- Act as a positive role model.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to pupils’ individual needs.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others.
- Encourage participation in activities led by the teacher.
- Support pupils in developing independence, where appropriate.
Supporting the Teacher
- Communicate and collaborate with the Class Teacher to provide effective learning opportunities.
- Prepare learning resources as instructed by the teacher.
- Clear and organise resources following classroom activities.
- Carry out appropriate intervention programmes.
- Complete feedback notes in pupils’ learning logs.
- Assist with displaying pupils’ work in different formats.
- Monitor pupils’ progress, achievements and difficulties.
- Report relevant observations to the teacher.
- Complete feedback forms to support future lesson planning.
- Maintain pupil records and learning files, as requested.
- Support the teacher in managing pupils’ behaviour.
- Report behavioural concerns or difficulties.
- Gather or communicate information from and to parents or carers, as instructed.
- Provide clerical and administrative support, including photocopying, typing and filing.
Supporting the Curriculum
- Help pupils understand instructions.
- Support pupils in literacy, numeracy and other local or national learning strategies.
- Help pupils use basic information and communication technology.
- Prepare and maintain classroom equipment and learning resources.
- Support pupils in using equipment and resources safely and effectively.
Supporting the School
- Follow all policies and procedures relating to:
- Child protection
- Health and safety
- Security
- Confidentiality
- Data protection
- Report concerns to the appropriate person.
- Recognise and support individual differences.
- Ensure all pupils have equal access to learning and development opportunities.
- Contribute to the values, work and objectives of the school.
- Respect and support the role of other professionals.
- Attend relevant meetings.
- Participate in training, learning activities and performance development.
- Assist with pupil supervision outside lesson times, including:
- Before school
- After school
- Lunchtimes
- Accompany teaching staff and pupils on educational visits, school trips and activities outside the school, when required.
- Carry out other reasonable duties appropriate to the level and responsibilities of the position.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications.
- Be fluent and competent in spoken English.
- Be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Have a proven record of excellent professional practice within the previous two years.
- Have a good knowledge of office-based information technology.
- Be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Be familiar with electronic filing practices.
- Undergo and successfully pass the required security and police checks.
- Undergo and successfully pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Provide two professional references.
- Be prepared to drive an authorised vehicle to attend meetings across the Western and Eastern Sovereign Base Areas and, occasionally, within the Republic of Cyprus.
- Be prepared to obtain or maintain the required FMT600 driving authorisation.
Successful candidates may be required to provide:
- A clean criminal record certificate
- A sex offenders certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus
- An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate
Qualified Grade Requirement
To qualify for appointment at Level 2 Qualified, candidates must hold:
- An STL qualification, or
- An equivalent recognised qualification
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- First Aid training
