Financial Controller at University of Limassol

The University of Limassol is seeking to recruit a Financial Controller to strengthen its Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will oversee the University’s financial operations, ensuring robust monitoring, compliance, and accurate reporting across all activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the University’s overall financial management and ensure compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
• Monitor and control project revenues and expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant framework/budget, accurate allocation and reporting.
• Support in budget preparation, supervise execution, and monitor variances.
• Review and monitor VAT treatment of transactions, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation.
• Prepare and review financial reports, reconciliations, and statements as required.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
• Support the CFO in financial analysis, reporting, and strategic planning.
• Supervise day-to-day financial operations and ensure adherence to best practices and University procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA).
• Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in financial management or auditing.
• Previous experience in managing funded projects (EU or other externally funded programs) will be considered a strong advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, monitoring, and financial reporting.
• Solid understanding of VAT and taxation rules.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent command of both Greek and English.
• Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems. Prior experience with SAP B1 will be considered an advantage.
