Be a part of a team:
This is an amazing opportunity for an Assistant Technical Superintendent (Trainee) to join our Fleet Management department. By entering this team, you’ll help ensure that BSM operates ethically and according to international regulations and industry standards.
Job Objective:
Assists with the monitoring and control of the smooth operation of all vessels assigned and handles the provision of the required technical support and maintenance, in order to achieve the desired levels of operational performance. Ensure OHSE, Energy and Environmental compliance policies are upheld.
Key Accountabilities:
Support SMC’s strategic goals:
- Is up-to-date with the developments in the maritime maintenance trends and changes, in order to identify and propose improvements and technical solutions on vessel issues.
Technical Support/ Maintenance to ships:
- Participates in the monitoring of the effective operation of the equipment and machineries of the assigned vessels, identifying and reporting potential discrepancies from operational standards, proposing and upon approval implementing solutions that will enhance the efficiency, performance and safety of the vessels.
- Participates in the implementation of the provided maintenance and repairs plan for the assigned vessels and cooperates with the Onboard Management Team to develop the actual maintenance arrangements with minimum adverse impact on vessel operations.
- Actively Participates in co-ordination of maintenance activities, including dry-docking, major overhauls, service of equipment breakdowns, ensures that quality repair work is carried out according to the approved budget, provides support and guidance for the handling of equipment breakdown in order to support the on-time and cost effective repair of the vessel.
- Participates in the development and timely provision to SMC and clients the required reports and documents regarding vessels’ technical developments, maintenance activities, repair progress and current operational status of the assigned vessels, in order to provide thorough information to both SMC and clients concerning the operational readiness of each assigned ship.
- Participates in the monitoring that all assigned vessels possess the required technical and survey certification for safe operation in accordance with Class, Port State Control and Flag State requirements, maritime legislation, safety regulations and operational standards of both BSM and vessels owners.
Executions of technical inspections/internal audits:
- Supports the timely execution of all external audits and third party inspections, for vessels assigned, so as to support the acquisition of all necessary certifications (ISPS, ISM etc.), and enhance the reliable and legitimate operation of vessels.
- Active involvement in the continual improvement process of the Company Management System to maintain compliance with customer requirements, expectations as well as international / national regulations.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture and/or
- Chief Engineers Qualification
- 1 year of sailing experience as Senior Officer or
- 1 year of shore experience as a trainee technical superintendent with a ship management company
